Discussion message RE: Brake conversions

The front struts on a carb 02 have a few differences to a tii strut. Basiclly they are; smaller stub axle and different caliper fixing bolt hole centres.

Your right John, its a case of suck it and see. I will probably go for a single servo set up and see what the results show.

It has been very useful indeed Nick, but my brain cells are preoccupied right now with the arrival of a new baby girl.

The right hand drive 02 models (1602 to 2002tii) all used the same servo. The 1502 used a smaller bore servo.

Hi Divesh, You may not need to run a servo as the piston sizes are large. It will be a case of suck it and see.

Hi John, I have competition Wilwood Calipers 4-pot on all 4 corners with a spot caliper for a handbrake. The front calipers are 1.75" piston and the rear are 1.00" piston.

I could do with a drawing to get me started on the brake line configuration. Any ideas where I can source one for the 1600–2?

The confusion with the servos arises from the fact that they would have been changed at least once or twice in a car's life.

Hi, The situation with the servos is that the E12 servos have a different ratio of assistance to the 2002 (the servo is also slightly larger).

My thinking is the same Nick. Twin servos with the Four pot willwood calipers all round is going to equal to much braking. I'm looking at a single servo system.

Whats the bore size of the e12 servos? and can the 02tii servos be bored out to the same size. Nick, I think you are using the e12 servos with an e12 MC in your M2.
