Heavy Steering
I hope there is some advice out there on this. I have lowered both of my 02's with performance springs. The cars sit about .75 to 1.0 inch lower. |

Re: Heavy Steering
I had the fun of learning to drive in my dad's old supercharged Touring which had incredibly heavy steering due to a very small (14") wheel and slightly wider tyres. |

Re: Heavy Steering
Hi Brad, I too have a Tii with very heavy steering. It is lowered by 30mm, has 14x6.5 wheels with an offset of 30mm and fitted with 195/60/14 tyres. |

RE: Heavy Steering
You can put it down to the smaller steering wheel as well as you will need to exert more leverage to turn the wheel as the diameter is smaller. |

John My arm muscles are fine , it was just a thought. I have an e21 with no power steering as well as my 02. |

RE: Heavy Steering
No unless you want to modify the crossmember and all sorts of things. The 02 has a steering box and the E21 a steering rack with different geometry. |

Is it possible to fit power steering from an e21 to a 2002 ? Paul |

Re: Heavy Steering
I have lowered my touring & have 5j x 13 steels with 165 tyres. No difference at all with the steering. I am going to fit 5. |

Re: Heavy Steering
Do you think its as simple as those rims are to wide for a non powered steering car designed to run with 4.5–5 inch rims? |

The steering boxes are all the same ratio except for the Turbo. Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! |

Re: Heavy Steering
Camber adjustment plates – the aluminum ones that go at the top of the strut – should help. Also check the air pressure in your tires as it drops in cold weather. |

Re: Heavy Steering
The wheels are the standard wheels on the 02 Auto and the Tii has 14x6 and the offset is standard on each. The tires are all rather new and within original spec. |

RE: Heavy Steering
Hi Bradley, Have you replaced the strut top bearing as this can get muddy and rust up resulting in heavey steering. |
