The front struts on a carb 02 have a few differences to a tii strut.
Basiclly they are; smaller stub axle and different caliper fixing bolt hole centres. The calipers are 4 piston style and similar to tii's but smaller as are the discs.
The tii caliper has the same bolt hole spacing as E3/9 and E12 calipers. The piston diameters are the same as well. The only difference between tii and E12 calipers is that there are 10mm spacers placed between the calpiers halves. You can convert tii calipers to fit 25mm vented discs by getting some spacers made up but they need to have holes drilled to allow for the bolts and fluid paths.
 You can also fit vented discs to carb 02 struts by doing the following;
Get front hubs from a 4 cyl carb E21 as these will fit on the 02 stub axle. Buy the 323i vented discs and get 5mm skimmed off the outside diameter so that they are the same diameter as the original disc. Get some spacers made up for the original calipers and fit them between the 2 caliper halves.
If you want to keep the 323i disc diameter original and upgrade the calipers to tii or E12 spec, you will have to get a mounting block made that fits to the existing caliper bolt hole centres and drill new holes further out and wider apart to suit the larger caliper. This is my prefered method as it is easier to replace stock discs but cost will dictate what action is taken.
Another good upgrade is to fit a 22mm dia master cyl from the E12 range. Less pedal pressure required as more fluid is moved by the larger piston dia.
Hope this helps clear up some issues.
Cheers,
John.

Blimey, I'd have thought Fritz' knew there stuff a little better than that! Tii calipers are definately a larger size to regular 02 ones.

So Damon I take it you're starting with tii callipers already?  Sorry - I thought you were talking about upgrading standard 02 brakes (which is what I'm contemplating).
The other thing I was told by someone at Fritz's (not Rich) was that tii callipers are exactly the same as standard 02 ones.  Didn't sound right to me.  John, is it right?  One of the options I'm considering is just to upgrade to tii struts and callipers (have the struts but would need to find the callipers) and I wouldn't want it to turn out to be a waste of time!
