Some of you have contacted me in the last few days as we’ve had a problem with the Jiglu space not accepting messages. This is wholly down to the fact that we had gone way over the site’s size limit. Now this is predominately my fault and due to me accepting any messages with images attached regardless of their size; obviously these last few days has taught me that we can’t afford to do that.

We can still have images in messages but I am going to have ask that they are re-sized before you attach them. Outlook (at least my version in Office 2003) asks if you want to re-size large images automatically on attaching them to an e-mail; as I alluded in the brackets this pops up automatically on my outlook, can someone more technical than me please post on how to set this feature up.

Alternatively you can re-size photos in most picture viewers (if you want to keep your high res versions, just start a folder called pictures for the web and save your re-sized images there).

Or, create an account at sites like:

www.photobucket.com – free version provides 1GB of space with maximum photo size of 1MB

www.flickr.com  - the free version allows for 100MB uploads a month, with a limit of 5MB per photo, and will display the 200 most recent photos

http://www1.snapfish.co.uk/welcome - apparently unlimited online photo storage

I am sure there others as well, please feel free to post suggestions

then share the web links to the appropriate photos when you post a message to the forum (like Rich has been doing recently).

I’ll be working on the basis that images sized 200kb or below will be approved, anything between 200kb and 1MB will be discretionary, and anything over 1MB will definitely be sent back to you to be resized or linked; unfortunately there is no facility for me to re-size the image fromm the Jiglu dashboard itself; I am also unable to strip pictures from a message and just send the text.

Cheers

Robert
