I am looking for a new exhaust manifold but don't want to spend huge
amounts, I have heard that with some manifolds you need to change to
rack and pinion steering which I don't want to do (only for cost
reasons). Is this manifold going to give me problems? I am using a 2.0
litre engine from a 73 touring in my 75 1602 just incase they help.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=200206205156&Category=31351&_trksid=p3907.m29
Thanks

If you contact 'Fritz Bitz' in Taunton, they have / had 4 branch manifolds but I wouldn't bother as I fitted one and despite shielding the steering box the heat transfer was a problem and there was no real gain performance wise. I would suggest matching the standard manifold to the head so there is no 'step' where they join, much the same way as you can do with the inlet manifold. This will give you more gain in performance than a 4 branch will even if it doesn't look as good! I would especially match the inlet manifold as when I did it I got a significant power gain (4 bhp) and apart from a little time and effort it was free! One final tip...Don't polish the inside of the manifold to a mirror finish as the roughness helps the air and fuel mix properly.
