Hi all,

Could anyone help me with the above. I thought this would be an easy one to resolve, but the BMW wiring diagrams are a bit vague to my untrained eye and a search on the web has come up blank.

I've taken a shot of my Ign wires and attached a diagram of the back of my switch.
Would someone mind clarifying which wires (numbered 1-6) goes on which connection (marked A-G)? 1973 2002 Baur cab.

Once i have this connected correctly i can see if the car will start after a lay-up of 15 years - i'm strangely confident it will!

Really appreciate your assistance!

Regards

Franc

Dear Frank

The diagrams are a bit rubbish really! I've had a good look at the and I have a vague idea where most of them should go. Doubtless John Hudson will correct me if I'm way out, assuming he hasn't already beaten me to the post!!

As far as I can make out (and I'm not responsible if your car explodes!!):

Terminal 15 (B) Double green wire (4)
Terminal 15 (C) Green wire to fuse box (possibly 5 or another wire not shown)
Terminal 30 (G) red twin wire to light switch and dip switch (not shown)
Terminal 30 (F) thick red wire (1)
terminal P (A) Grey wire to indicator switch (either wire 2 or not shown)
Terminal R seems unused from the diagram - might not apply to non-tii models, then again it might!
Terminal 50 (D) Thick black wire to starter - Probably number 6 on your picture

As for the other red wire - beats me! could go anywhere, but then my skills lie with breaking cars, not fixing them! If you get really stuck try talking to James at the Jaymic Workshop (01263 511710), he should be able to help more if he's not too madly busy today!

Kindest Regards
Pete

PS - Remember what I said about not being liable!!

Hi Pete,
If she is in SE London, get her to give me a call as I can possibly help sort out a few things. I know of a couple of paintshops here and am checking them out for my tii and 635. I can do a bit of rust repair but not spraying.
Cheers,
John.

A reminder to all of the above event which is due to takes place at Waddesdon Manor, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, THIS WEEKEND. Some years ago the BMW Car Club held, each year, a National Concours at a prestigious location including Harewood House and Longleat. These were very successful events, but unfortunately, costs were increased and it was difficult to hold a Concours without passing onto our members excessive entrance fees. The National Concours became combined with other events such as track days at Silverstone and Donington, and eventually the BMW Festival at Gaydon.

In recent years, Regional Concours events have shown that there is still a lot of interest in such an event, and examples being in the South West, where, for the last seven or eight years, numbers attending have been around 60 to 80 cars, although not all participating in Concours, but nevertheless, for an enjoyable and social event. It can be seen that the BMW Car Club America also have their Chapters holding Concours at prestigious locations and shown that these event s are highly successful.

It was felt that here in the UK, we should try and resurrect the National Concours as it’s own event at suitable locations, and as a result, we have a National Concours Committee who have organised the event for this year at the above location. Waddesdon Manor is a magnificent house in the style of a French Chateau with grounds to match. As well as a visit to the house, it has plenty to offer the family with gift and wine shops, a plant centre and walks through the grounds. Waddesdon is a very child friendly place, there is a woodland playground full of exciting obstacles including a giant slide, scrambling nets, swings and stepping stones, there is also a wildlife explorer’s trail. In the house itself there is a quiz/trail for children. There are two restaurants at Waddesdon. The Manor Restaurant, in the house itself is licensed and is open for breakfast, lunch and tea. Entry fee is free to NT members exhibiting or not, on production of a valid NT card. For non NT card ho9lders who are entering the Concours, a discounted rate of £5.80 per person for entrance to the grounds or £12.30 per person for the house and grounds. A BMW Car Club membership card is required to obtain these rates. For non NT members who are visiting the event, £7.00 per person for entrance to the grounds or £15.00 per person to the house and grounds.

Gates open at 0900hrs for Concours entrants, for other visitors 1000hrs. House is open from 1100hrs to 1600hrs. Gardens, shops and restaurants open from 1000hrs to 1700hrs.

Pre-registration is necessary for entry into the Concours. A registration form can be found on the Club’s website in Concours, members only section, judging sheets etc. The form should be completed and sent to David Leake, Chestnut Cottage, Chard road, Drimpton, Dorset, DT8 3RF or telephone 01308 867172 in the evenings, or fax the completed form to the same number, or email to ...

If this is a first Concours for anyone, please view the Club’s website for information, and also have a look at Waddesdon Manor’s website www.waddesdon.org.uk For anyone wishing to find accommodation in the area there is a Vale of Aylesbury visitor guide available from www.visitbuckinghamshire.org The are plenty of B&B’s in the area.

It is very much hoped that you can help by encouraging the members of your region or register to attend. There are, of course, regular advertisements in the Club’s Magazine. Winners of Regional Concours events, whether from Region or Register, are especially encouraged to attend this National event to represent their Region/Register. For those regions who have not held their Concours, so far, this year, then winners of last years would be eligible to represent their region/register at this event. Could all Region/Register Chairmen please notify David Leake of those concerened.

If not entering - why not come & watch?

The National Concours Committee, Keith Waller, Jim Hutson, David Leake & Wilf Rickard, would like to thank you in anticipation, of your help and assistance in making this a very successful event and hope that we can continue this events in future years

Hi James,
What a shame. I was looking out for you at Le Mans.
You will have to do Lelystad with the rest of us and that is a great weekend away.
Cheers,
John

Sorry to hear about your troubles James. John is spot on, you should come to Lelystad 6&7th of September. Its a great weekend with huge amounts of 02s, a track, and a really friendly bunch of people. Then you can do your route in reverse.

All the best

I have a 1969 2002.

I am trying to get at the door lock and need to remove the door panel. removed all the handles etc, and pulled the lower part of the door away. all the clips are removed but the top of the door and the chrome window rail are tightly held. all the advice I have looked at says 'remove by pulling upward'. I tried that by standing on the inside of the door, holding either side of the panel quite close to the top and pulling upward whilst wriggling it to either side. doesn't budge a bit. Do I need to remove the chrome rail? Are there any clips at the top of the door that I have missed? should I be pulling the bottom part of the panel upward? (this seems to cause a lot of strain on the top part of the panel)

Top

What you need to do is to put a screwdriver under the chrome trim from the edge of the door, ie inline with the moulding and gently lever the whole lot upwards. Use the edge of the door where the glass is to lever the trim upwards. Push the door card up as well so that you don't put a kink or bend the chrome trim.

You didn't come then Paul.. or did I miss you?

No you didn't miss me nick, I had a family crisis. My aunt who has a brain tumour took a turn for the worse so we dare not come in case we were 'needed'. She's survived the weekend but it doesn't look good. I don't like letting folks down and was looking forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones. I smsed my 02 mates very late sat night to tell them I couldn't make it. Frustratingly I had promised to bring some 02 parts to a guy I was meeting at the show and missed picking up some neue klasse panels on the way home. I very much hope to attend another meet. I am away from friday for a month UK Australia and Japan back middle of August. I hope it was a good turn out for you and look forward to some pics if you have any. Sorry again Nick.
All the best paul hill
